Matthew Holzner serves as Senior Lecturer in Music and Assistant Director of Bands at Texas State University. His responsibilities include conducting the Concert Band and Basketball Band, assisting with the Bobcat Marching Band, teaching instrumental conducting and marching band techniques, and supervising student teachers. He holds a Master of Music degree in Conducting from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has studied tuba performance with Mark Moore and Daniel Perantoni In addition to maintaining a private lesson studio, Mr. Holzner is active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and consultant throughout central Texas. |

Prior to his appointment at Texas State, Holzner taught in the public school system of Illinois. His ensembles received numerous Superior ratings at the IHSA State and Solo/Ensemble contests, and performed at the Illinois All-State Conference and several other national festivals.
Holzner has served as a contributing author to the GIA Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series and assisted in the filming of GIA series The Marching Band Director's Video Toolbox.
His professional memberships include the College Band Directors National Association, the National Band Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Texas Music Educators Association.
